Last gasp disappointment for HKS

Bloomberg Hong Kong Scottish played Borrelli Walsh USRC Tigers at home on Saturday, 28th of November 2017. HKS started well with 3 Gregor McNeish penalties and had all the momentum in the first half. The first HKS try came from a superbly weighted McNeish cross field kick which Jarrod Mongston gathered to score in the corner. The second try came from some quick thinking again by McNeish who took a quick tap to feed Ben Tyler who scored in the far left hand corner. HKS’s third and final try came from some fantastic interplay between Sam Vaevae and Conor Hartley who offloaded well to Mark Coeberg who scored near the uprights. Half time score 28 - 10.

The second half was a completely different game for HKS who lost a few men to injury. The momentum shifted Tigers way and they managed to come within 4 points with 2 minutes to go. Tigers kept hold of the ball and squeezed territory and eventually scored the match winner off a lineout drive deep into injury time. Final score 31 - 28 to Tigers.

The HKS Nomads had another solid win this weekend beating Tigers 33 - 21 at the Rock, Shek Kip Mei. The Bravehearts had a difficult match going down to Tigers 7 - 39 but there were plenty of positives for the team who has jumped up 2 leagues from last season. The HKS Phoenixes form continued as they convincingly beat University 57 - 12.
