Bloomberg HKS drop first home game of 2017/18

Bloomberg Hong Kong Scottish hosted Natixis Hong Kong Football Club at the Rock on Saturday as round two of the Old Mutual Men’s premiership kicked off.

The lofty altitude of the HKS home ground didn’t seem to bother the visitors early as HKFC jumped out to a 12 nil start. McNeish was the one to fire back for the Scots by way of a penalty (12-3). The momentum was short lived however as HKS Scrum Half Charles Cheung was given a yellow card, HKFC didn’t waste time and quickly put another try over making thescore19-3. McNeish fired once again before the half to make it a slightly more respectable 19-6 for the break.

A fiery half time speech from Coach Craig Hammond had the Scots revved up for the restart and it was Jarrod Mongston who translated that into points with a fantastic solo effort. As the clock ticked on the game turned into a tit for tat affair as both teams began to run tries in. One more to Mongston and another to Ben Tyler in addition to two more McNeish penalties meant that the Scots managed to narrow the gap to just 2 points until Football Club ran away with it again. In the end it was a tight game with a final score of 30-37. The Scots will look to bring their Home record to 1-1 this weekend as they host Kowloon RFC.
